Save Money By Conserving on Gas

Ways to save MoneY on a trip

1.Combine errands into one trip. If you combine several short trips into one, you will save money. Several shorts trips taken from a cold start can use twice as much fuel as when you cover the same distance when the engine is warm.

2.Park in the first spot you see. Driving around looking for a closer spot will cost you in gas.

3.Buy gas a couple of days before a holiday. Gas prices almost always goes up for holidays.

4.Remove roof rack or carrier providers as they increase aerodynamic drag and fuel usage. A loaded roof rack while it provides additional roof space, reduces fuel economy by 5 percent

5. Plan trips in advance. If you are traveling during peak hours, include alternative routes in you plan. Back routes can negate the hassle of sitting in traffic jams or many stop lights.

6.Don’t tailgate and don’t be intimated by tailgaters. Driving bumper to bumper means instant stops which are gas guzzlers. If someone is stuck to your bumper allow them pass at an appropriate time. Tailgaters will tailgate you regardless of your speed. Driving above 60 miles per hour can cost you 7-23% more gas.

7. Use a global positioning system (GPS) to find shorter and faster routes.

8. Shop for deals on the internet. Use the internet to find cheap gas near you. MapQuest, GasBuddy.com, GasPriceWatch.com and GasPricesRelief.com are sites that allow you shop for cheaper prices on gas.

9. Use your cars air-conditioning system on the highway. Roll down the windows in town. Yes, there is an increase in drag when you roll your windows down, and yes, there is a decrease in fuel efficiency, but not as much as driving with the AC on at in-city speeds of 25 to 40 miles per hour. Using your ac regular uses up to 8 % of gas in the fuel tank.
