1.Join a loyalty club. Gas stations, departments stores and grocery stores when you present your membership card. Still shop around to see if you are getting the best prices.
2.Move closer to where you work. The less the distance you have to drive, the more you save on gas.
3.Stagger your work hours to avoid peak rush hours. The longer you sit in traffic the more gas you use.
4.Avoid hills. It takes more gas to go up a hill.
5. Apply for a credit cards that offer gas savings when you use the credit card for purchases
6.Walk, bike or use the bus when you can. Join a car pool. You will save on gas and reduce the wear and tear on your car.
7. Park under a shade, this keep your car cool and reduces the amount of fuel you will consume to cool it down. Using the ac of your car regularly will reduce fuel economy by up to 8 %.
8. Ensure your gas cap is airtight. Gas evaporates and can evaporate right out of your car if seal is not airtight. A gallon of gas in your tank can evaporate in just two weeks.
9. Upgrade your car. Buy a smaller car. They use less gas and are more fuel efficient than lager ones. You can also buy an alternative fuel vehicle (AFV) which use cheaper sources to run a car. Hybrid Electric cars are another option. Not only do hybrid cars save you money at the pump, tax deductions can be a high as $3000.
10. Beware of items that claim to improve you mileage or you fuel efficiency, most do not work, and those that do only provide marginal improvements. Some on the other harm can do more harm than nothing at all.
